The Virginia Festival of the Book released its full list of featured speakers Monday for its 24th annual event, bringing the total of authors, illustrators, publishing professionals and other guests in many genres to more than 300.
Festival organizers plan to release the complete schedule in mid-January for the upcoming event, which will take place in Charlottesville from March 21 to 25, 2018.
Authors announced Monday include Thi Bui, author of the graphic novel “The Best We Could Do”; S.A. Chakraborty, author of “The City of Brass”; Edgar Award nominee Lyndsay Faye, author of “Jane Steele”; and Monica Hesse, who penned “American Fire: Love, Arson and Life in a Vanishing Land.”
Also announced was guest Lisa Ko. She is the author of “The Leavers,” which is the inaugural choice for the festival’s Carol Troxell Reader.
Carmen Maria Machado is author of “Her Body and Other Parties: Stories.” Charles Mann wrote “The Wizard and the Prophet: Two Remarkable Scientists and Their Dueling Visions to Shape Tomorrow’s World.” David Barclay Moore wrote “The Stars Beneath Our Feet.”
Also announced as festival speakers were Alisha Rai, who wrote “Hate to Want You: Forbidden Hearts”; Justin Spring, who penned “The Gourmands’ Way: Six Americans in Paris and the Birth of a New Gastronomy”; and David Wojahn, author of “For the Scribe” and a Pulitzer Prize finalist in poetry.
